Marijn Claes
Flemish Marijn is fascinated by the search for happiness and the fear of losing it. As an actor, he loves to fathom the motives and ambitions of his characters. ‘I find the duel between desire and fear magical’, he says.
After graduating with a newly acquired Dutch accent from the Amsterdam School for Drama and Cabaret, he is mainly seen in theatres. With his dreamy, deep-red hair, Marijn is also found on the big screen - in films, series and commercials. His ideal film role, however, would be a long-term project - like Boyhood. ‘A project where you can grow along with the character, where there’s room for depth.’
But ultimately, he wishes to fulfil his childhood dream: playing a wizard in a fantasy film. That Marijn has other talents other than acting, is proven by his resume: we mention singing (tenor), classical and jazz ballet, contemporary dance, ukulele, piano, combat training and horseback riding.
Marijn is currently working on the theater production: Murder on the Orient Express
