Roziena
The word is her starting point, both written and spoken. Fiction, stories, poems and even short documentaries: nothing is too wild for Roziena Salihu. Originally Ghanaian-Dutch, Roziena is a well-known name in the spoken word scene.
Her love for language was born in 2014 when she started writing for the Poetry Circle Nowhere. She has been entering the stage as a performer in dashing locations such as the Concertgebouw and the National Opera & Ballet. In addition, she has been published as a poet in En ze leefde nog (Rorschach) and Hardop (Atlas Contact) and fiction writer in Revisor and the Sampler (Das Mag).
All this has led to her debut as a documentary maker in 2019, about her search for black identity. What does it mean to be both black and white? She answers in her short documentary Fufu with Appelmoes (VPRO-Dorst). You can see her in the interview series #baggagecarrier by 3voor12.
Roziena recently played the lead ‘Aisha’ in an online series ‘Rotown’ directed and written by Fadoua El Akchaoui. She recently starred as ‘Kyra’ in the new ‘Medisch Centrum West’ television series.
Roziena is currently filming new episodes in an awarded online series.
